Editorial principles
ContextLens is not a newsroom, a commentary site, or an AI product. These six commitments are how we try to keep Fact + Context = Truth honest.
Editorial philosophy
Fact + Context = Truth
A fact on its own can be accurate and still produce an incomplete understanding. The qualifying sentence always travels with the line.
1 · Commitment
Evidence first
Claims that look like findings must rest on named sources. We publish the trail, not only the conclusion.
2 · Commitment
Context before conclusion
Sequence, geography and definition changes are part of the reading. A figure without its history is unfinished work.
3 · Commitment
Separate fact from interpretation
Evidence and interpretation are labelled. Perspectives say they are interpretive. Charts do not argue by colour alone.
4 · Commitment
Make methodology visible
Status, version, units and missing-data rules sit on the page. Methodology clauses are dated like any other record.
5 · Commitment
Acknowledge uncertainty
Provisional values, partial coverage and open questions are first-class UI. We do not invent precision.
6 · Commitment
Correct errors transparently
Material mistakes are dated on the affected work. Old versions remain citable.
What this is not
- We do not publish breaking news.
- We do not offer an opinion on every event.
- We never start from a political or ideological conclusion and work backwards.
- AI used in the research process is infrastructure, described in Methodology · clause 5- never a product claim in the chrome.
